Kaho Storage

Kaho Storage keeps the files and folders you upload from the Kaho app, and shows them in the app’s sidebar on every computer you sign in on. It is a place for your own files: there are no public links, and it is not a way to send files to other people. Unlike the PDF API, it has no API of its own to call: the app is how you use it.

  1. In Kaho, open Settings and choose Sign in under Account. Kaho opens Google’s sign-in page in your browser; Kaho never sees your Google password.
  2. Choose a plan: click Choose a storage plan… under Kaho Storage in the sidebar, or Choose a plan… under Account, pick a plan and click Sign up. Stripe’s checkout page shows the price, with any tax, before you pay; your plan shows in the app within moments of paying.
  3. Kaho Storage appears in the sidebar of every pane, with My files and Trash under it, and how much of your plan you use beside it.

Plans are billed monthly through Stripe and renew each month until you cancel them. Change or cancel yours with Manage billing under Account, which opens Stripe’s billing portal. We refund any charge you ask us to within 30 days of it: write to [email protected]. Files in the Trash count against your plan until they are deleted, 30 days after you move them there.

  • Upload by dropping files or folders onto a folder in the sidebar, or with Upload Files… and Upload Folder… on its menu. A folder of any size goes up as one job, which picks up where it stopped after the app quits or the network drops, and files you already uploaded are not sent twice. Progress shows in the sidebar while it runs.
  • Open a file with a click: Kaho downloads it once, checks every byte against the file you uploaded, and keeps a copy in a cache of up to 5 GB on your computer, so opening it again needs no download. A file opened from Kaho Storage is read-only.
  • Download a file or folder to your computer with Download To… on its menu.
  • New Folder…, Rename… and Move to Trash are on the menu too. On the Trash’s menu, Restore puts a file back where it was; Delete Permanently… and Empty Trash… cannot be undone.

A folder with more than 5,000 files lists its first 5,000 in the sidebar and says how many there are.

WhenWhat happens
The first 7 daysNothing changes, so a late payment does not interrupt you
The next 14 days, or 45 days if you have renewed at least onceYour files are read-only: you can open, download, move, rename and delete them, but not add to them. Buying a plan again restores everything
After thatWe email the account’s owners the day the files will be deleted, at least 14 days ahead (30 days if renewed), and delete them on that day unless a plan was bought again

What Kaho keeps about you, for how long, and how to have it deleted is on the privacy page. The terms cover Kaho and Kaho Storage; the PDF API’s terms are separate. To report abuse, write to [email protected] with “Abuse” in the subject.
